I will get the final house for her birthday. I have already bought another set and am planning on giving it to my daughter for Christmas. The story is cute though, and we like to read it. Basically, it is some paper that is stapled. Also the book that comes with it is more like a pamphlet. My daughter has had hers for a month and not run into any problems. The house is sturdy, although it is made of a hard foam, so possibly not as durable as plastic. In fact, she was (uncharacteristically) crying tonight when she had to put her house away for bedtime. My three year old daughter literally will play with this for hours. It has a wonderful old fashion feel to it. I love that the set comes with furniture and little dolls. There are all sorts of fun details that make the house more interesting than most toy houses. To begin with, the colors and artwork are original, vibrant and outright magical. I never write reviews but I need to say that this is an amazing toy.
It’s an interactive activity in every box that develops fine motor skills, literacy, imagination, role play, creative problem solving - and is a fun-based educational tool for kids, especially children with special learning needs and Autism. It’s more than a book and more than a toy. Warning: (Not for children under 3 – choking hazard) Material: Made from EVA foam and card-stock. Reading Kingdom is the “just right” reading program that suits every child. Your young reader will be mesmerized.Īuthor: Emma Chichester Clark Illustrator: Emma Chichester Clark Published: 2010, 40 pages Themes: Excellent Read-Aloud, Humor, Fairy Tales, and Behavior So lively, in fact, they seem almost animated. I especially like that someone finally called Goldilocks out on what she really is – naughty! And the illustrations are simply gorgeous and quite lively. Clark’s retelling of the three bears is modern and funny, and will appeal to children. So before you possibly write them off as antiquated, take a second look, especially at these more modern, winning editions of the old classics.Īnd then there is just the pure enjoyment of the story, especially when an edition comes along like this one. If your child is not familiar with The Three Bears, they may not get the most out of that lesson. For example, the Three Bears may be used to do math activities involving measurement. Fairy tales are also often used in preschool and kindergarten classes as jumping off points to other areas of curriculum. If a child is familiar with a story, it can be used to teach many elements important in the acquisition of literacy including, story-telling, sequencing, character development and so on. Fairy tales become very familiar to children and, as a result, empower children’s literacy attempts. But allow me to explain, in case you aren’t aware, why fairy tales are important in early literacy.
This beautifully illustrated, oversized edition would make a great gift book.
